World's Eight Highest Mountains in Nepal

Nepal is known as the land of Himalayas world over. there are 1,310 peaks above 6000 meters of which 238 already opened for climbing. Likewise, out of fourteen 8000 meter above peaks eight of them. including the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest lies in Nepal. Other seven are namely kanchanjung, Lhotse, Makalu, Ho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna.:

Mt. Everest:
Moutn Everest is the highest moutain in the world measuring 8,848m (29,028feet) in height. It was first climbed on May 28, 1953 by a New Zealander sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal. Moutant Everest is also known by the Tibetan name Chomolangma (Goddess Mother of the Snows), and by the Nepali named sagarmatha (Mother of the Universe).

Mountaineering:

Mountaineering is considered the keystone activity that Nepal offers to the climbers then any contry in the world. The eight out of fourteen 8000m peaks lie in Nepal including the Mt. Everest (8848m), the highest peak in the word. Trekking:

Another popular tourism activity in Nepal is trekking. The experience of walking through Nepalese villages, learning their cultures and natural views on the way along are considered once in a life time experience. Nepal has earned recognition worldwide for its best white water rafting, kayaking and canoeing. There are 16 rivers to choose from for rafting in Nepal out of which Trishuli river (grade+3) is considered the best.

Rock Climbing:

The other extreme sport getting new heights is Rock climbing. rock climbing in Nepal can be done in aptly identified sites such as Nagrjun, Balaju, Shivapuri and Boudhnilkantha. other then these locations.


Moutain Biking:

The best way to explore Kathmandu vally and its outlying destination is on a moutain bike. Moutain biking is the only way to enjoy uphill and downhill of the country without spoiling its pristine environment.

Bungy Jumping:

The ultimate thrill of a bungy jump can now be experienced in Nepal. The first of its kind, Bungy in Nepal is situated in Bhote Koshi at the height of 160m. The bungy jump in Nepal is considered best due to its natural ambience and high ridges.

Elephant Polo and Jungle walk:

The most renowned sport played in Nepali is the Elephant Polo. Unique in its texture, Elephant Polo tournament is played in Chitwan every two year where hundreds of people flock in to witness the game.

Paragliding:

The history of paragliding in Nepal is not long but it is emerging as one of the fastest growing sports in Nepal due to the suitable weather and best locations to carry out. Paragliding in Nepal is a wonderful experience to enjoy scenic beauty of terrace fields and breath taking white Himalayan ranges.

Mustang and Manang

Jomsom is the district head quarters for the Mustang region of Nepal. To many people, however, Mustang implies the area of nepal that extends like athumb into Tibet. This is the region described in Michel Piessel's Book ''Mustang'', and includes the walled capital city of Mustang, to Manang. since 1991 trekkers have been allowed in limited numbers into the high desert region nourth of Jomsom that still has its own nominal king. The starting point is Jomsom.

Destination to Nepal

Lumbini:   World Heritage site, Lumbini, UNESCO- World Heritage Site, is a small town in the southern Terai Plains of Nepal, where the ruins of the old city can still be seen. Shakyamuni Bouddha was born in Lumbini, in southern Nepal, twenty-five hundred year ago. Since his time, Nepal has been a sacred ground for Buddhists as the birthplace of the Bouddha. Shakyamuni Bouddha was bon to a royal family. The restored Garden and surroundings of Lumbini have the remains of many of the ancient Stupas and monasteries. A large stone pillar erected by the Indian Emperor Ashoka in 250BC by bears an inscription about the birth of the Bouddha.
An important part of Lumbini is the temple of Maya Devi. It has a stone image of Maya Devi giving birth to Lord Bouddha as she holds onto a branch. To the south of the temple is a pool where Queen Maya Devi is said to have bathed and given her son his first purification bath.

Nepal has always been popular for its glorious history, culture and adventure in the international arena. Its unique landscape, natural beauty and mountains have always been an added asset for the country. Ten cultural and natural heritage sites of Nepal have been inscribed in World Heritage Site list. Surrounded with green hills Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. Kathmandu Valley includes the ancient cities of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. The artistically built temples and places, delicately engraved stone and metal images, carved wooden columns and pillars and the history laden shrines and chaityas of these three historical cities stand testimony to the excellence in art and architecture during medieval period. Kathmandu valley has seven archeological and historical sites inscribed into UNESCO world heritage list spread within a radius of 20km which include kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square Swoyambhunath, Boudha Nath, Pashupatinath and Changu Narayan.
