What is the trace and accurate meaning of Bonpo?

Bonpo is the Tibetan name for the followers and supporters of the Bon religion who always dedicate for Bon religion is called Bonpo. Tonpa Shenrab mibo is founder of this old religion of Bon, who was born in the kingdom of Zhang Zhung, it's kingdom where situated in the West of today's Tibet. Specially, Northern Himalaya of Nepal were part of this kingdom where Tonpa Shenrab mibo then used to preach teaching. The teachings of Tonpa Shenrab were later prevailed across Tibet by his followers.

Bon religion is rather resemble to Buddhism but activities of reveling marks are dissimilar. Circumambulating  around their monuments anti-clockwise, the outfit in blue colour and a typical white hat with blue stripes, a special ritual bell called shang is used, style of the chants and incantations are different which seeing all of them activities are respective then Buddhism. 

The Bon religion consists of the "nine ways of Bon" (thegpa gu), nine different levels of reading, learning and meditation. The ninth and highest way is the way of the "great perfection" (rDzogs chen). The forms of religious practice between Bonpo and Buddhists are very close which Both of them believe in Karma.
the principle of cause and effect affecting future lives as well as the closeness to Nirvana and salvation of the perpetual cycle of life and rebirth. And both religions pursue the way of religious life and practice.
